Hey Folks,

Been restoring my Grandpa's 1951 B. This was the tail light on it. I know that I need to attach under the seat frame so I'll do that, but is this light original? I've never seen another one, and if so does anyone know where to find one?

Thanks!

I have a '48 G that has a red bullet shaped rear light. I think most ACs used the same one. Can't get a picture just now but someone else should soon.

Here were the light offerings. I'll post back with a photo of an original and the modern reproduction this evening.

Here they are. Powers out due to a storm so this is just in the light of flash. The one on the right is the original, left is the reproduction (these are listed under D10 in the parts store, should be for B too). The reproductions should be finished in gloss black. I have them for use on my D14 restore in progress. Interestingly, I've found two original examples of CAs where the bullets were in orange but the vast majority were black.

Here is another light the B used just for completeness. I have never actually seen one, or the aux socket installed. Would like to. It's looks very similar to the stalk lights available nowadays. I included the text above where it talks about the serial numbers where the aux lighting circuit started to be available.

Dick L is correct in saying that the white light you have pictured is incorrect. The bullet shaped red ones are also incorrect for a B.
The correct one has an almost flat clear lens, with the outer circumference having a red light. The red one is the hard part to find. I have several of the clear lens somewhere around here, packed them up just before the flood and haven't found them since.

I don't know anything about "b" tail lights but my brother searched high-low for the correct tail light for his "c" and it was a small drum (2"-3" dia)shaped light and not the bullet shaped light which the WD used. I found one at the Mt Pleasant, IA Thresher show and paid quite a bit ($30.00-$40.00)for the orange-rusty thing thinking for sure it was the correct one. Some of the expert "Allis people" didn't think it was quite right and maybe off a case tractor or implement. Thankfully my brother is not to picky and was happy to accepted it as a gift and fixed it up to use. It was as close as we could ever find to being the correct one.

Odd thing is when we took this tail light apart there was a red lens with a clear one under it. Apparently that was for either road use or take the red out and clear for field use. Just to clearify the info here is what I was told and I don't claim to be 100% knowledgeable but I have seen the drum style light on Re-stored "C" tractors. I am a little surprised that "B" is not the same as the "C". cleddy

Here is a picture of the Tail Light that was on my 48 C when I found it, I think it is original. The red glass inside the light is cracked, I have never been able to find a replacement. It is inside the can so it will be fine.

I have the same light as Seale12 on my 51 B. I am the third owner and I believe this is correct. Mine was in great shape. The red lens is actually Red to orange to yellow. Quite nice. Cool tractors. There is also mounting holes on the left fender for an auxiliary light which I do not have.
