(quoted from post at 05:24:53 12/04/17) I've got a question I've never seen an answer for.. I have an older Craftsman 3 ton floor jack. When it has a load on it, it will slowly drop down and at the same time dump fluid on the floor..

is there a suitable additive to the fluid that will help the seal ?? kinda like a 'stop leak' additive ??

john

John, there's a product called Bars Leaks that has many good reviews. It's actually rather inexpensive also. Is one of the very few products out there that can be used in snow plow systems that isn't specifically meant for snow plow systems, so besides helping to stop leaks, it'll also work well all Winter long.

They have lots of other products as well, although the jack oil is the only of their products I've used.

(quoted from post at 14:21:29 12/04/17) I have mixed feelings. Finding out one of my American suppliers charged me 10 times what they charged corporations. Doctors gouging me 5 times what they charged insurance co, 10 times medicare. Buy American sound good but I'm always getting swindled. Small Business

Yeah, it seems a used unit that I can rebuild is the way to go.

The new units are just way overpriced.

Guess the marketing value of "made in America" is limited.

It is when you price yourself right out of the market. They have to keep a line of less expensive imported jacks to keep the doors open. You can only sell so many $1400 floor jacks to "true Americans." The rest of us can't afford them.

Amen! $9.00 imported jeans or $70.00 made in the USA by union worker jeans? Guess which way I went?
