I am trying to get the front bearing support off so I can replace the front seal. The shaft and support will come out about an inch but I can't get the input shaft to stay behind. It is solidly attached to the front support. Not sure if I have an early or later unit but I did the same thing a year ago without any problems. My I&T lists two different procedures but isn't real clear on either. I wish I had never tried to replace the seal but we are putting in a clutch and wanted to replace the seal as preventative maintenance. The tractor number is 193759 if that helps. Where is the serial number on the h-p unit?

You probably have a late style-if so the input shaft has to come out with the front cover, then remove the bearing retainer and shaft.

Serial number of the unit is stamped very close to the dipstick tube and is a 5 digit number and yes you have the late style unit.
