I have a furukawa fd45p with Isuzu 4 Cyl, zexel injection pump. I'll start with what I've replaced and cleaned. Got the dozer and immediately started having power problems. Replaced fuel filter replaced in tank fuel screen. The tank had about 2 inches of rust and sludge in the bottom. In the summer did all this and it would act up at the beginning but would smooth out and run fine the rest of the day. It sat for about a month and started using it 2 days ago it will run fine for about 10 min and fall on its face. Starts missing and blowing grey smoke (raw fuel) it clears up some when idled all the way down but never really clears up. Let it sit for about 15 min and start it runs fine for 10 to 30 min and does it again. This time I drained tank and changed fuel filter twice new fuel screen and made sure fuel was clean. It still does or is just a gutless wonder. Can prime engine after it does and it fires right up wit run for about 10 to 30 min. It either dies directly or starts missing and blowing grey smoke. Please help.

Some Zexel/Diesel Kiki pumps have banjo bolt fittings with removable screen up inside the bolt. I've seen the bolt inlet to the supply pump on inline applications get plugged with rust from the tank. Would be worth a look and see if you have one restricted somewhere in the system.

Are you referring to the supply line to the primer pump or to the injection pump itself. I removed the line going to the filter housing also connects to the outlet of the primer pump and looked clean.

The inlet banjo fitting into the piston supply pump is the bolt I've seen get plugged before. Had no fuel coming out of the supply pump when using the hand primer, that's when the banjo inlet bolt into the supply pump was found with the bolt inlet screen plugged. Removed the bolt, unthreaded the screen inside and cleaned it. Would be worth a look as it may be partially plugged if it has one. The piston supply pump has two valves that may be stuck open too. They are under the hex caps on top, one may be under the hand primer if only one cap is used. Make sure they are not stuck, and the small spring is in place on each one that holds them closed also. This is assuming you have an inline pump. Does not apply to the VE rotary pump.

update the screen inside the banjo bolt looked like a diesel dirt dobber nest. It was very dirty and caked rust. Thanks it fixed the problem.
