10 below now and wife's got a dr. apt: in the morning for her broken ankle, have to leave about 9:30. Quite a process getting her in the car, wheel chair to patio door sill, two steps in the walker to a chair, spin 1//4 turn and down 7 inches to the walker, another shuffle and 1/2 turn and fall in the backseat. Was bad enough in balmy 15 degree weather, tomorrows going to hurt. If the leg swelling is down enough then we go to the hospital for surgery in the afternoon, plates and screws, then getting her back in the house again half full of anesthetic. At least with the plates she probably won't bring home this metal contraption.

I hope she gets rid of that. I was never so happy as when my external fixator came off

She did it Dec. 12th, her birthday, came down stairs with both arms full of presents to wrap, failed to negotiate the last 2 or 3 steps.

Her birthday is the day after mine, Dec. 11th

Hope all goes well

Didn't break mine but tore the tenets and ligaments in my left ankle a couple years ago.
Stepped off the tractor onto a round chunk of wood about 2" dia. and rolled my ankle.
Luckily I had my cell phone with me else I may have laid there in the hay field for a while.
