Just to clarify - I'm in NZ visiting the grandkids and hiding from the Scottish winter!

Always wanted to go "Down Under". Thank you for the pictures. As they are the closest I will ever come to Australia.

Just thinking. Yes I know that is dangerous. When you are on a jet and you cross the equator, do they even tell you, does neptune come over and bonk you on the head, or do they just hand you another bag of peanuts?

No, not even another bag of peanuts! Not a ripple!

Oh crud! One of my neighbors served a couple on a destroyer. When I asked him if he was a Shellback he kinda got a little bit of a cast look in his eyes. Nope. Then to make things worse I had to blurt out you are still a Pollywog? Yup. He never crossed the equator in his whole service time. Bummer. I thought everyone would cross sooner or latter. After I profusely apologized and said that I just thought it was a given. They even have a toned down ceremony on cruise ships.

I almost got to be a Golden shellback. Captain didn't want to go the extra 100 miles, we were on our way to Singapore for liberty. Don't blame him after four months on board everybody was a little stir crazy even with a steel beach party.

Hey--I'm still a pollywog too--Never made it that far South. Had a couple of North Atlantic cruises and crossed the Artic Circle and got the white nose though--ANCHORS AWEIGH---Tee----The picture I took with my Kodak Instamatic is our 2 A-4s escorting a Russian big bear off our starboard side someplace in the North Atlantic!

Nice pictures. My BIL lives in Tauranga. NZ is a beautiful country, I'd like to get back for a visit some day.
