Today, I start my life from new. Sold the Farm and all contents. I kept very little, not even family photos or memorabilia. Just a small amount of tools I may need.near the border of Indiania

I bought a camper and left my home. My parents are dead and I have one sister who is retired and married. My son 34 yo son is with me also.

I'm at Flying-J on interstate 64 somewhere near the borders of Indiana and Illinois. 88 miles south of George Marsh.

Don't have any idea of where I'm heading...just drive and stop and look until I find a place that meets my fancy. Lot's of nice looking farms around here.

Oh yeah, I got to visit a Mernards for the first time today. I was overwhelmed, I've never been in a store that big in my entire life! It was HUGE!

That sounds like a big step, don't think I could do it. My son works in a big Menards N. W. of Chicago, just bought a house and seems to like it there, bumper to bumper traffic don't work for me. Good luck and have a nice trip.

Greg you will find it amazing how other parts of the country are so much different than where you where at. The lack of much economic activity in your old area slowly killed the society there.

So good luck and head a little south to keep warm. I bet that you can bums some ribs in Florida or maybe some Louisiana food from some fellow Yters.

I would go far enough south to stay warm, but not so far that I have to worry about giant cockroaches carrying off my dog.

Sounds like about what I did almost fifty years ago. Only I had only 260 bucks in my pocket and to my name. Graduated from HS and packed a tent and some clothes on my new 350 Honda and took off. My only plan was work my way around and see the USA. I was seventeen and figured I had a year and a half until I would be drafted. I had a construction job in Texas, bus boy job, and worked in a Tuna plant in Ca. I did see allot of the bottom 48 but came back after a little over a year. I never did get drafted. Eventually ended a mile up the road from where I was raised and pretty much been here ever since. Being retired from my REAL job now,I still enjoy the road life on my motorcycle for a week or two maybe three but I'm always glad to get back to my place I call home.

Steve@Advance- I'm terrified. I have spent my entire life here in Eastern Kentucky except for 2 years in Lexington, Ky to finish my education at University of Kentucky.

I don't think I have ever been this afraid of the unknown before.
