The old refrigerators from the '30's or '40's were more energy efficient than any made today. Automatic defrost is what made them energy hogs.

I have an old Lincoln Tombstone Crank adjust, welder that my Grandfather bought new. It still gets used regularly.

At the farm there's two freezers that are 50-60 years old and still working. Our washer and drier is about 20 years old and still working. Seems like any appliance with the circuit boards or whatever don't last 10 years.

I got another Sunbeam Percolator AP10 for $24.99 on ebay and picked it up ~30 miles up the road; after fixing the other pot. My folks got this model as a wedding gift in 1956; coffee is good. I took the old percolator apart and there is no wiring. Heavy metal bands carry the current, it was made to last; the problem was the male end of the cord had broke inside after decades of use. They don't makem' like that anymore.

Plumb brand hammer I got from the lumber yard I worked for in 1967. With the exception of four years I was in service it has been in continual service. Made in 1 piece. Also 1967 Allis Chalmers diesel tractor. Was overhauled 1 time about 5 years ago, has thousands of hours on it.
