Looking for advice on John Deere 4430 Quad Range. Reverse went out yesterday with no warning. Front wheels had dropped in mud hole went to back up and no reverse. Transmission had worked flawlessly till that point. Tractor is used as a loader tractor to load feed wagon daily.
would appreciate any input. Thanks

Does the lever move into the reverse position, or does it feel blocked? Or does it move into the reverse position with less effort than before?

Probably gonna have to pull the transmission cover and see if it's a shift fork issue, or if something's happened to the collar shift mechanism for reverse.

Suggest posting this down on the John Deere-specific Forum, as well.

Be sure to check shift linkage to be sure all shifting mechanism is moving from shifter to trans. You might get lucky & find a cotter key fell out allowing shift rod to come out of shifter arm

It goes into reverse position with little or no effect. All the linkage is still hooked up. Probably going to pull the cab today if I can get to it.
