pull cover off rear after you drain the oil.
get spray foam insulation and go to town.
leave a few inches clearance around all gears.
it will expand so watch how much you put in.
silicone it to seal it after it has cured.
depending on how much oil it held in the rear before you can lose a fair amount of weight and you didn't butcher anything.

It might help if you would explain what you're working on. If it's a Farmall Cub, you've got some room to work. If it's a GVI Moline, There's probably not much else to do. Mike

That seems kind heavy mine weighed 48 something with 190lb driver, no pump, and original rear cast as well as front. You could build a lightweight front end with aluminum front rims. You could also get an aluminum deck plate. I'm not sure what weight your looking for.

I built a wide front for mine with rack and pinion steering using a rack from an old porshe and an aluminum right angle gear box. Other than that all I did was pull the PTO and add weight brackets. I figure I could get to 4K if I wanted to with a top cover, shorter axles and a light weight gas tank/steering bolster. Mine weighs around 4200 empty now.
