Sorry, no pics as of yet but I have been browsing through the numerous pictures of this site for the seat that is on my 8N. I'll try to describe as best I can. It looks like a standard flip-up seat but it rests on a coil spring with a shock absorber inside. The bracket that houses this mechanism is fairly elaborate. I have yet to see a pic of one on here. Was this a option or standard equipment back then? Just curious.

thanks
Mike

Sounds like it could be a Knoedler seat. Does it look like this one? I found this photo in the Parts & Pieces Gallery.

The Knoedler seat was an aftermarket seat that could be set for different spring rates to match the size of the operator.

I have one similar to your picture and it is very comfortable. The only problem I see with mine is that it reduces the leg room. I need to be shorter! (Or SLIMMER)

I have one of these that I took off of my 8N. All the bushings are worn out. I would be willing to part with it for the shipping if any one is interested.

Here's a possible solution that I found on a tractor. Remove your seat and bolt this to the tractor. Then bolt the seat to this spacer. Result is seat is higher and farther back. I'm still waiting for a roundtuit before I can put this on my 800.

It never ceases to amaze me at the amount of *SMART* folks left, especially on this board.

15 years, they won't be many left, at all.

Bye Yall (no not right now)

Lets hope that there are a lot of younger folks reading what goes on here.
(or at least have access to the archives)

But as bad as I hate it, I bet there are very few.

If you have a Knoedler and you want to rebuild
it check the Oliver Board for Phil Heisey, he
probably has all the parts. CockShutt used that
seat on its tractors
