Being owners of a antique mall, we were ask to look at and evulate som vintage farm tool. The owner to us out behind the buildings a showed us a Horse drawn Oliver Mower. According to the picture the mower is complete except for the guide board on the end of the scikle bar, part of the gear box cover and pull bar. The major problem is that the cast iron frame has been broken. The geern and yellow paint can still be seen under the light rust.
The photo on line does nt list a mfr date. All the cast part numbers start with a "Z".
Is there an interest? What about a value or should it be hauled to a scrap processor? |

I'm sure you will be happy to hear I visit antique malls often. Around here those mowers are in some demand for yard ornaments or such things as mounting a mailbox. The seat is of value, if it is a cast iron seat of considerable value. I think the last mower I saw at an antique store was priced at $250, which I consider outrageous, but then I think prices for Griswold iron skillets are too high also. Scrap price is probably $.10 per pound. You might post this on the Oliver Forum. Put it in the entrance or in the parking lot of your mall, I bet it will sell, but maybe not for $250.
