I slung a rod out of my KT17 Series II last summer and need an engine before spring. I despise Kohler engines and am looking at Honda and B & S. Small Engine Warehouse has the kit that goes right in. Will others work? Is the kit necessary. I see no issues with another engine unless you want all the shields around the engine back on. It is a good mower and I hate to junk it when the engine is the only issue. What have some of you done? Also, how available are tillers to fit it? Can you add power steering? Thanks in advance. |

Do what you want, but I would just get a kit from small engine warehouse. I got one of their kits last spring to put in a allis 917. It had a kt17 series 2 that smoked. It was cheaper to put a differant engine in than fix the running kohler. The kits they sell have everything you need and the wiring is corrected for the tractor you are putting it in. It took me about 2 hours to install.

Get the kit if you change engines. |

I went to Small Engine Warehouse for a replacement engine for my Cub Cadet 72. I bought the 11-hp Tecumseh kit. It works great and the little tractor has never performed better.
SEW also provide great support if you need any help during engine installation.

PreciseFarms,
Would you consider selling your blown-up KT-17 series II? If so send me an E-mail. It is open.

I have both a KT series II with broken rod and also a KT series 1 with bad main bearing bushing. Will sell either of both cheap.
