I have a 8N Ford Tractor thats 3-point hitch is slow raising up. I have already cleaned and changed all oil. There is a small handle located on the right side of the seat, that if I hold it about 1/2 and it will slowly raise, but if you push it all the way forward, it drops it back down. What exactly is this lever? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

time for you to get an owners and service manual for your tractor.

the small handle is the draft / position control .. up is position control.. it is for non ground engaging applications.

pull the dipstick side cover and look in with a load lifted.. look for squirts and leaks from the piston mouth or any area.. the pump is only 2.85gpm.. thus any leaks will make is slower.

The "small handle" you mention is your draft control selector. When it is "up" it is in position control. When "down" it is in draft control Draft control is for ground engaging tools like plows or discs. It sounds like your lid (and links underneath) is in need of adjustment.

Holy cow Zane, that is a lot of typing there. Very Happy Rick are you talking about the lever under the seat or the one that is more beside the seat? Under the seat is draft/ position select lever. The one next to the seat is the control for raising and lowering the 3 point hitch.
