I use a mix of crossbow and 2,4d. Would use all crossbow but the stuff is $$. Use 1 qt of each per 55 gallon tank. I think its plenty strong but if I am taking the time to spray I want to get it killed. Strong enough to kill the multiflora rose with no problems.

Why do you want to spray them? Are there noxious weeds in there?

I started using crossbow this year, but your right, price way more then 2-4 D Ester. Are you mixing diesel? How long of control are you getting and are you getting any grass burn off also?

I cant remember if I am using Ester or Amine 2,4d. I always forget. No diesel fuel just surfactant. I used to use drain oil...but thats another story...
I am only spraying on a boxwire fence, no electric. I spray once a year, and have been spraying for about 4 years now. Before I started you couldnt even see the fence behind the brush. Took 450 gallons to spray all around the fencerows. Now it is down to about 200-250 gallons. Much of the big multiflora rose plants are dead. Still some small brush that grows up every year. With this mixture the grass isnt affected at all. I use a hand wand and just creep down the fence row with the tractor. If there isnt any big brush that I really need to coat then I just prop my arm on the fender, shoot the spray on the fence row, and drive. I still do areas that "look clean" this way to keep anything new from growing up.

If you have an ATV sprayer do this, If you don't have one, get one. It's an IRS writeoff. The Grandkids will love you!
25 Gallon tank.1 1/2 qts generic RU. I buy it for 12.50 a gal. 1/2 Qt 24d. Use the wand and just drive along the row. It sure helps to have the power steering and auto shift Honda.

I have alot of areas I cannot drive a ATV into so I am using a back pack sprayer. I have a neighbor with a ATV and sprayer for areas we can drive along. I have not been too impressed with round up and 2-4 D for fence line treatments, pretty weak. You are in South Dakota, I am sure you are not dealing with the amount of brush that we are.
