I had a couple of questions about a cub I recently picked up. It is a cub lo-boy with two of the Howard gear reduction drives on it. I did not know what they were till I stumbled on some pics of them on other Farmall cubs, & I could not seem to find any info on this company. I was wondering where they were made and if they made very many of them? And what this tractor might be worth? My sister was wanting a regular Red cub and not a yellow low boy so I put this up on ebay for her. Any info would be appreciated.

Those creeper gearboxes are valuable. Perhaps worth as much as the rest of the tractor. If you still want to sell, it should be taken off and sold separately on eBay. You won't believe the final bid. Cub people are nutty.

You lucked out on that purchase. Don't give the next buyer the same opportunity.

It is odd that you mention two. I thought the Cubs only used one. I suppose you get double reduction when using a pair. I would sell one at a time.

Well, to break it to you nicely, you have an extrodinarly rare Cub. How rare, yours is only the 3rd one I've seen. I own one, and another guy in New York ownes the other. They are a special modified Steep slope modified cub.

Here is the only sales literatue I've seen on them. www.tm-tractor.com/gbrochures/modified_cubloboy.htm

It's a very rare cub, good luck.

Yes, I believe originally that Cub would have had a balanced-head sickle mower installed.

Actually they could come with either the 105 balanced head mower, or a 72" mott flail. The other one I know about has the flail, mine has a woods 59 on it. But the story on mine was it was ordered without a mower, and the dealer added on the Woods. The rear crossmember on mine is definatly not as nice as yours, it's a crossmember for a stockloboy modified to fit the wider tractor.

Mine also has duals in the rear and rear weights, but is otherwise identical to yours.

Thanks for the link. Now that's a Cub worth owning. 15hp and nine speeds.

R Foster should be careful how he sells that tractor. It has high value and should be treated with respect.

I agree, It has most of the extra parts the Steep Slope cubs had, it's only missing the duals, and they also included a set of the Cub wide adapters to make it even wider. Mine is 73" from tire to tire. The front axle was made just for them also, and the hubs are off a hay wagon I think, and are running 15" rims and flotation tires.

The parts for the right side despeeder, the modified brake petals, the platform extension, the modified seat frame, were only made for these cubs.

Another feature is unlike a normal Lo Boy, the rear final drives are rear facing, instead of front facing, it uses a special bellcrank to actuate the brakes running under the final.

I just hope a collector gets it, and not a person buying it for parts.
