i have a 1952 ford 8n with a sherman transmission with new paint and a fairly new rebuilt motor that has maybe 50 hours. The rubber on the rear is pretty good but the front tires not so good. i have had people come up and offer 3500, but i have a few uncles that say the 8n with the sherman tranny is worth more. so i was just wondering if anyone knew what this machine is worth.
thanks, smitty

Take the next $3500 offer.

In this market, decent 8Ns usually bring $2000-$2500. A good Sherman combo adds around $500.

It all depends where you are located. I have a 52 with hi/lo sherman. Very nice tractor,I"m the third owner, 1350 actual hours, new paint and tires. I was offered $5500.00 for it a while back and turned it down.Mine isn"t for sale. I"ve got a friend that has one with a Flathead V-8, turned down 12,500 for it. What you can get out of it depends if you are willing to sell and if someone else is willing to pay your price.8Ns have really taken a revival where I live. I have 4 in my shop now being redone. They are just a little tractor that never seems to get old. Everywhere I take mine to a show or a pull, someone always comes to me and tells me about the one that someone in their family had that was just like mine. If you don"t like it sell it ,but I"d keep it, it"s a piece of history

Considering some of the higher prices mentioned, seems it must vary a lot, depending on location. I've passed up several 8Ns with Shermans in good running condition, but certainly not pristine - in the $1500-$2200 price ranges. I've had chances to buy four-cylinder 4000s with Shermans for around the same. Personally, I'd rather have the 5 speed and dual clutch, since the Sherman screws up the PTO speed.

In my mind, $3500 is one heck of a good offer for a tractor with a flathead gas engine, manual steering, and NO live PTO. That is, unless it's really in exceptional condition.

Smitty......Dean is right, good runnin' 8N's are about $2000-2500 and the 3-speed Sherman adds about $500 to value.

Remember there is NO blue-book values on OLD tractors. Its a "negoation" and a handshake; "what'cha askin?" (start high); "what'cha offerin'?" (start low) And CASH$$$ talks loudest. .......Dell

You should have taken it. Around here 8N's sit unsold for months at $1500. I can guarantee that even with the Sherman you'd be lucky to ever get $2500 for it.

Agree with dean. take the next 3500$ offer and load it for them.

I picked up a 63 ford 4000 with sherman combo and rough front rubber and ok rear rubber for 2800$ a while back.

around here.. and N in good condition with a sherman might still fetch less than 2000 unless it has goodies or a trailer with it.

Wow...as I've said before here, at those prices, some of you with trailers ought to pick 'em up and haul them to east TN. A kinda running, looks like garbage, 8n around here can't be had for under $2000. I looked at one with oil in the radiator, rusted tin, bad tires and rims and offered $500. It went for $2000. I guess on the positive side it did come with a rusted out brushhog and yardbox with no teeth.

sounds like you will regret selling it.
keep it
sell/trade something else to get a bigger tractor
nothing wrong with having 2,3,4.....

Fords are expensive in my area
a late 52 with a pro-rebuilt "C" motor with a combo
sherman, a bulge in the left rear of the tranny case,
the lube hole on the upper steering column, and the
rectangular lift arms will easily bring $3500
