I have a Fordson Super Major/5000 that I am restoring. I believe it is a 1963. Where should the serial number be located. I have looked everywhere with no luck. Thanks for the help |

Raise the hood, look up around the battery box. |

Lift up righthand side hood. Look at the front side of the block where it joins the cylinder head.
Flat area about 2 inch long x 1/2 inch deep
Serial number stamped into the face
you may have to clean the dirt to read it
post the number on here and I will date your tractor for you.
If you want the date of build, post the casting numbers off the block; gearbox & rear axle. |

I beleve it is located on the right hand side of battery box when you are sitting in the seat. The panel that is between battery and fuel tank. |

KDF68 is spot on ! On a Super the serial number will be found at the right front side of the block where it joins the cylinder head, this will be a raised flat surface. This is not the case with the regular Major nor the Power. |

Thanks for the help. I was unsure if the serial number located on the motor was just the number for the motor or for the entire tractor. Thanks for clarifying. |

Not the case with my Super Major,I have the flat area without numbers, I suspect it is down near the starter motor somewhere, something to do. |
