Had the dexta running it show 42# oil pressure cold at about 1/2 throttle. Drove it around gauge went to 0# shut it down. Took line off back of gauge nothing!!! Took line and fitting out of block blew oil out! Put in dfferent gauge started up showed 22# 3/4 throttle. Checked oil about 1&1/2 qts low dirty black. Don't know when oil was changed how old the filter is or what kind of oil is in it? The last owner just let it set out in the weather!!! What oil should I put in it?? How many QTS ??? What is a normal op pressure? Thanks |

Id start by changing the oil, filter, and also take the strainer out of the bottom of the pan and clean it. (Warm up the engine first.)Wix makes a filter for the application. The book calls for 30 wt. but I use 15w40 in mine because of the wear in the motor. Get a known good pressure gauge and pipe it in after the oil has been changed. Hopefully, youll see a marked improvement. If the pressure still falls to zero after its hot then youll need an overhaul. |
