Fordson N oil check

I have a 1937 English fordson there is a dip stick on the gearshift side is that for the engine oil or rear end oil? also on the water washer there is a round hole at the very bottom is that supposed to have a plug no water comes out of it when it is filled? What oil would you recommend using in this tractor it is very original? Any help greatly appreciated.

The dipstick measures engine and clutch oil. The transmission and rear end is filled by the spout down low.

For the engine, use a diesel rated oil, in a heavy weight, such as 20W50.

The rear end must be filled with proper worm gear oil. The same oil adequately splashes the transmission gears.

Engine oil level should be checked twice a day. Fordsons were heavy oil burners and often fouled the plugs. Improved rings and valve seals were off in the future. Ford recommended frequent oil changes when working, such as every two weeks. In 1938, they tried raising engine compression, but it was a mistake, since the babbitted bearings couldn't take the extra stress.

The water washer was plugged with an aluminum screw cap or with a rubber plug. If it doesn't empty, it must be plugged with caked up dirt. It is supposed to trap dirt from the air, but it should be drained every day. Don't leave water in it during freezing temperatures.
