|
|
I was browsing some Fordson parts sellers this morning and i see that red lenses are available for the rear lights. My Major has amber colored lenses. One of them is cracked, but somewhat useable, but I haven"t seen any replacement amber lenses.
Why were some Majors supplied with amber and others with red? Country of import maybe?
I was also wondering what the original wattages were for the headlights of a 1955 Fordon Major Diesel. I know originally there were high and low beams, but my bulbs have only one brightness level, that is to say there are only two electrical prongs on the bulb.
Thanks for any information |

Do you mean the lights on the fenders or the one behind the seat? The ones on the fenders are supposed to be clear.
The original head light bulbs were 24W on low, and 36W on high. |

I meant the ones on the rear of the fenders. They are slot shaped, see picture. I have seen clear ones towards the front of the fenders and they are egg shaped, but I don't have these on this tractor.
Thanks for the wattages. I found a headlight bulb that is 35W, so it ought to work fine.

That was probably a quirk from the previous owner.
Take a cue from the rear of your road vehicle.
Red for tail and stop. amber for indication. and white for number plate identification. |
