|
|
I have a old kohler 4 cylinder 1500 watt power plant. it ran at 1200 rpm.
it ran until I put it up for about 6 years. the motor is stuck now, but Im not sure why. it didnt get wet, so I dont think it's stuck hard. still has it's army green paint too.
this thing would sense a load (turning on a light) and starts automatically.
I was thinking bout getting it out and overhauling it. anyone knows if this thing is worth anything, and where gaskets can be obtained for it?

Per the gasket question? Is it a Kohler engine,
or somebody else's engine, and a Kohler generator
I've seen old Kohler Gen. sets with a Hercules
engine. |

They are a little itty bitty purpose-built HEAVY Kohler four cylinder watercooled engine.
LOTS of weight/castiron to put out 6 HP or so!
I have one in operating condition and two parts units, one of which is a 32 VDC setup. |

wow...6 horse.....I was thinking about building a little homebrew tractor for parades, and putting the motor on it, but at 6 horse, that's not much.

I have a Koler unit that has the generator that is 65KW. Runs pretty good or did the last time I needed it back in 2007 when we had the ice storm. If it was me I would fill the cylinders with AFT after making sure that the radiator has not fill the cylinders with coolant due to a bad head gasket. You can also blow out the cylinders with air before filling them to make sure that is not water in them from condensation because if there is any water at all the ATF will not work well. Then after a few days try a wrench on the crank pulley or some other such thing. If it has a starter you might try that with short fast taps |
