Does it have a brass tag on the governor cover? If it does, it's not a "brass tag" model and it's worth around $200 to $600. If the serial number plate is on the rear of the engine just below the fuel filler it is a "brass tag" model, and is worth a little more. If it is a very early engine it may have embossed letters on the waterhopper or no provision for the crankhandle, and they are worth more, probably starting around $1500-$2000. |

Thank you for your response. The tag is, if you stand on the left side of the engine, it is behind the flywheel towards the bottom of the engine. |

I have seen good 1 1/2 JD engines sell for 11 or 12 hundred dollars. Where are you located? |

I have sold 1-1/2hp JD's for $1200, but not anymore. Have passed many this year for under $500. Check out some sold prices on Nixon Auction's website. |
