Hi.I have a Fairbanks morse 1 1/2 Hp Z Style-D Engine.with a FM-J Rotory Magneto.this mag will fire when cranked real fast.it is gear driven by the engine.is there any way to make more spark with less cranking power? can not crank engine hand crank fast enought to start. do the magnut's go bad Question thank you for any help. Jeff....

Likely your impulse spring is broken. The impulse spring does two things. One is it causes the mag to spin fast there when the impulse is tripped when hand cranking. It also cause the timing to be retarded so one can hand crank the engine WITHOUT the engine kicking back.

Yes over time magnets can get weak &they can be easily
recharged by any good magneto shop.

Do you hear the mag clicking loudly when you are cranking it? If not, you've got impluse problems like Kentb of SWMO already mentioned.

I wonder if recharging the magnet's will hold Question can you buy a new magnet rotor Question oh this a rotory mag. not a impuls mag.thank's so much for all the help Very Happy Jeff Patton
