Flail Mower Question

I've got an old Kubota B6000 tractor that has a reverse running pto. This setup came with a flail mower but I can't locate any brand/model number anywhere on it. Its Yellow... thats about all I know.

I was wondering if there was a particular brand/model that originally sold with these. It fires up and runs but I'm thinking I'd see about rebuilding it.. or at least replacing the blades/knifes whatever they call them.

I don't know about the Kubota, but there was a Cub Farmall Lowboy series built in the 70's that were designated 154s and painted yellow and white. These lovely little useless jewels had a reverse running 1850 RPM pto. They also had a 15/16 10 spline pto shaft and all this was because to have a live pto they belted the pto off the engine flywheel and used a dry pack clutch at the rear of the tractor to put it in and out of gear. Mott mfg. Co.(now owned by Alamo) made a special reverse running flail mower for this tractor. Lots of park depts used them and occasionally a golf course would have one. This mower was usually sold by the IH dealers around here to go with the Cub 154 tractor as no other company sold one for it to my knowledge. I had to agree to sell the mower with the tractor to get rid of a totally useless tractor. I have one of these odd ball mowers now that I reversed the rotation of cut by flipping the drum over, changing the pulley speeds and then adding gauge wheels to the front and a floating top link. It is a very smooth cutting mower, I have owned this one since 1988 and replaced the blades only once but have sharpened them several times.

Mott worked as an engineer for IH when he developed the flail mower but IH wasn't interested so he went off on his own. He tested the self cleaning properties of the "Hammer Knifes" in pig manure. The finest cut flail mowers use reverse rotation for the best possible cut. Some sod farms used fine cut reverse rotation Mott Interstators. I think the reverse rotation lifts the grass up before cutting. Mott was sold to Alamo after the son of the founder was killed landing his plane on his property. My dad set a world wide sales record when the Interstators came out in the 70's and was very good friends with Mr. Mott.
