Do you guys have a source for the outer,rear axle bearing for an H? They are $115 from the dealer.

That price probably is not too far off. Bearings and oil seals are priced according to the popularity of the application. The fewer the applications, the higher the price. The cost for setting up to produce a bearing is the same whether it is a run of several thousand pieces or just 100.
Shop around a bit. You might be able to knock $20 or $30 off the price, but if you find one priced considerably below that, question the quality.
I wouldn't be afraid of a NICE used bearing either.

I have 12 axle assemblies from Hs I have parted out. I have taken one apart to weigh the parts to see if they would be mailable and I also found that the bearings seemed to be good and tight. I'd be happy to sell a bearing for $10 plus postage if a used bearing is a possibility for you. I know I can ship for $6 in a flat rate envelope, might be cheaper another way depending where you are located.

Part number is 43719D, or ST252. I'm sure it is a Timken, but I do not have a source.

according to my ih bearing book a st252 is a 213-ZJ

I bought a used one such as what Zach has. That bearing is quite expensive, $98 at my local Case/ IH and $118 at my local parts house. I found the used one that was in great shape locally for $20.

All the transmission bearings in an H are standard metric ball bearings. Just get your local bearing supplier to measure it up. I completly replaced ALL the bearings and seals in my transmission exept for the roller bearing inside the top gear coupler for around NZ$400.00. The outer axle bearings I think were 6014 bearings from memory. I was really suprised to find metric bearings in a 1944 American tractor.

I agree. I thought mine were twice that from CNH. I got mine from a local bearing store for half the price of CNH.

Hello Sir: If you still have some used "H" outer bearings, I am very interested. The old one I removed was a ND 1213R with one shield on the inside, and no grease groove. Seems to me this this was installed incorrectly. Shouldn't the shield be on the outside, especially if the lubrication is via the transmission grease? Why wouldn't one seal be better?
