Painting a farmall m and was wondering what color to paint
the axles,fan and shroud ect.

axle look best black. the rest was painted red with the tractor.

The axles were left unpainted at the factory.

What do you do with yours? ie if you don't paint them what do you do so they aren't a lovely rust color.

Rust on axles doesn't bother me. You can use clear paint, it will last for a while before it comes off. My tractors are kept inside anyway, very little rust. You can also remove the rust periodically with a wire wheel. Painted axles just don't look right to me, regardless of the color.

Might work in Kansas, but here in WI they would be orange in a week. I know you realize that, but just thought I would bring it up.

I don't really mind them black. I prefer more of a subtle flat black than high gloss fancy black. It won't matter on my first tractor. The WD-9s don't have axles like that.

Quanta Cast Blast on the axlesIt's the color of bare cast iron. It's used on the 300,000 muscle car resorations.
