2030 brake problem

i have a jd 2030 i have to pump the brakes one time before they catch, could someone tell me how to go about fixing this.

Have you tried bleeding them? There is a bleeder fitting on the top of the axle housing flange. Try that first. If the problem continues it is the o-rings/ square packings on the brake pistons leaking letting air into the brake system. This requires removing the axle housing to replace the o-rings.

I second bleeding brakes first but required pumping could be caused from leaking valves in the brake valve housing. If brake pedals are locked together is pumping still required????

That's a test to see if the equalizer valve in master cyl is at fault but it isn't.

thanks for the information , i bled the brakes and that did the job. i didn't know that was the bleeder fitting .
