This may not belong in this section but I have a 19in wheel that has come off an 8n and the part that the tire mounts on has rusted through. I was planning on a buying just the outer rim and filling in the center with the old wheel. Would a cutoff tool be OK to remove the center from the old wheel or do I need a acetylene torch? |

I'd replace the wheel. If you opt for the repair, a cut-off tool would be cleaner. Don't weld on the wheel with the tire on. |

common to weld a rim blank onto an old center.
remove the old rim as you can. grinder.. sawsall,, cutoff wheel.. plasma cutter.. torch.
I done em all.. torch was the easiest.. then hit it with a grinder a bit to clean up
lay flat and use blocks to prop the center to get it level in new rim.. use other rim as a measurement guide. tack in.. then remeasure.. and check for true all around.. then weld her in.. grind.. paint up and remount and go. |
