Painted my rider

I bought this MTD rider almost 9 years ago. It's been a faithful and very reliable mower with little maintnence required over the years. Living on the Texas / Mexico border, it gets use 52 weeks per year. I store it in the dirt floor barn and it was beginning to show some rust, mostly under the rubber foot mats. I mowed everything late last week and the following day I began taking it apart to clean up the rust and repaint as needed. I still have the deck out and plan to clean it up and paint it too, but for now I have to re-install it and mow again! Also plan to paint the wheels white to go along with the Ford scheme. So it was a Huskee (I masked off the labels) and now it's sort of a Ford. I reckon I'll name it the Fordskee since it's probably a one of a kind. Laugh if you want, I've always been a firm believer in "if you own it, do what you want with it".

Pan in primer after some serious sanding and wire brush work. Painted top and bottom.


The almost finsished product. Have not decided what color to paint the mower deck yet, any suggestions? Wheels will be the same white as the hood and seat back.

The Ford decks were blue on the older LGT's. I like the idea that it's your tractor so do what you like. Semi-gloss black is easiest to keep up with. A chrome exhaust stack wold be good as well.

Looks really good i think.To me i think the deck would look good the same color blue.Great job.

Deck will be painted blue for two reasons. One, I have more blue paint than white but the main reason is I put the deck on and mowed about a half acre and came in to rest and a quick thunderstorm came up. The white hood looked awful but the blue didn't show the dirt / water spots as bad soooooo blue it is.
A chrome stack? Love the idea but since the exhaust runs out the front under the sheet metal that's probably not going to happen. After all, the hood does have to be opened to put fuel in and check the oil etc. I'm hoping I can get another 9 years out of this gal, she really has been a good mower. Man down the road stopped by and asked when I bought the new mower, I got a laugh!

im not a ford fan. never will be. but it looks good. and your way of thinking is cool, its yours, do what you want to. wish everyone was like you with an open mind

I am a big time Ford fan, and I appreciate your enthusiasm in what you have done here. I am currently looking for a small Ford GT.
