Sand Blasting questions.

Just bought a pot belly blaster off ebay for 104 bucks seemed like a good deal and used my neighbors once was very effective. Was wondering what i should buy to shoot through it to clean up my tractors before i paint them?

I use all purpose sand. The sand has some aggregate too large to use with the sandblaster so I have a wooden box with screen wire on the bottom to sift it. When I sand blast I put down some polyethylene plastic to catch and reuse as much of the sand as possible. I then use the sifter box to clean the used sand.

#4 sand is fine enough to pass thru most any small nozzle and does a good job without distorting the metal, if you keep the pressure down to about 110 lbs.

Tractor supply sells some decent stuff - black diamond. Use the 40/80 stuff to avoid clogging.

Obviously use a good respirator no matter what you use but I'd still be real careful about using regular "sand" - read up on silcosis before you do that, so at least you'll be informed.

Keep in mind too that there's probably worse things in the paint you're removing!
