Hi guys,

It has been a LOOOOOONG time since I've had to post but I have a small problem. My hyrdraulic lift lever won't stay down and as a result, the slasher will ever so slowly lift off the ground (not very helpful). I have to slash with my hand on the lever to keep it down. How do I adjust the lever so that this doesn't happen?

Thank you in advance for any advice or assistance.

Regards, Jonathan

The smarter and more experienced ones aren't replying, so I'll give my two cents and maybe if I'm wrong that will make them step in...

I fixed this problem on my TO-30 a few weeks ago. If your model is similar, to solve the lift lever movement, replace the friction disk. This requires separating the piece that holds the lever from the shaft it is on. This was a pain for me. Once separated, replace the disk. You can buy new ones, or I made a disk from a piece of old leather laying around. Problem solved.

My better fix over all for my TO30--in addition to above--was building a knock-off of a zang thang which I did with wood and cpvc pipe since I don't have many metal working tools.

Questions, just ask.

I was bush hogging several years ago with a 9N Ford and all of a sudden the mower started raising up and wouldn't go down. Went home and tore into it and it was a 1/4" pin on the linkage that the cotter pin came out of.....it was on the linkage that goes down around the pto shaft and hinges part way down. I took a magnet and fished around the bottom of the sump and found the pin. Never found the cotter pin so I put a new one in and went back to mowing. ohfred41

You can adjust the amount of friction by tightening the castle nut at the bottom of the Lever. It maybe that the friction disk and you would then need to replace it...John(UK)
