I posted this on the Oliver side and figured I would post it here as well since it really is an MM tractor.

Jason Hasert who has been writing the Wide Wide World of White articles for Oliver Heritage has found another picture he would like me to share with you guys for any thoughts or comments. This time it is a Cockshutt 2655 in a cockshutt plow brochure. It would seem that it is just another "doctored" picture. But it does raise the question did any of them go to Canada like this? From what I have seen of this time frame in White history it is certainly not impossible. I have done an archive search on here and dug up some neat old posts about this. Some say that in western Canada they only wanted Cockshutt tractors and because of this some MM G-950, G-1050, and G-1350 or there Oliver counterparts were labelled as Cockshutts. I would say it was possible as the MM's had the option of being painted red from the factory. I also dug up a post saying that there was a Cockshutt magazine ad for a Cockshutt 2455. I believe that this exists as back when ebay started many years ago I was searching around on there and saw that ad. I saved that picture and honestly never thought much about it until I learned that there was supposedly no Cockshutt version made. Unfortunately that computer is long gone and so is the picture. Have any of you guys ever heard of any of this or seen any of these tractors? I know the Plainsman as everyone says was for Canada but I don't really believe that to be the case. The plainsman to me is the "Heritage edition" to go along with the Oliver and MM Heritage editions and I believe it was sold in both the US and Canada and not for very long as all I have seen are bubble nose models witch they changed to the flat grill in mid 1971. So anyways, any info stories or pictures will be greatly appreciated.

I've seen pictures of a few 50 series tractors doctored up by dealers to look like later White 1870/2270 models. Sales were tough at that time so I'm sure many dealers would paint or badge a tractor on their lot any way the customer wanted to make a sale. I've researched the production records on the A4T and compiled by thoughts.

Wow, that is the best compilation on them I have ever read. Thanks. Now have you ever seen the Australian Plainsman with a flat grill? The interesting thing about it is it is red like a MM, has the Oliver grill and says White like the Bubble nose. This is a "White" Tractor. Your article says that only one 2455 came off the line. Have you seen the one that surfaced this year that the guy is claiming is 1 of 10?

Also I am planning on going to that PA auction and I see you would like serial# info. I could possibly help. Email me if you like. fordman2283@yahoo.com.

Thanks

Dick

Here are some of our A4T-1400 diesels. They both have the 585 diesel engines. The yellow one was purchased in 1980 and repainted in August 1981. We bought the red one in 1988.

My A4T looks similar to first picture only with white cab. Same tires and rims. Mine has turbo and says turbo on breather. Original 504D.

I believe that the first picture with no cab and a guy sitting on it, is Mike Verhulst who was the chief engineer of the A4T.

Thanks for the compliment. I put a lot of hours into compiling the data for that article. I sent you an email.

Gary,
The prototype for sure as shown below in the first picture. Other than that I don't know since the production ledgers do not call out A4T colors.
