I have been asked to work on a pony motor on a d6 cat series 9u. The pony motor's mag will fire part of the time and other times it will not. The owner also worked on it and has removed the rotor gear. When we can get it to spark it sounds like it is firing on the intake stroke back through the air breather.
What I would like to know is there timing marks on the rotor gears to line back up and do you guys think that maybe they coil is hit or miss or do you think its just shorting out in the casing? I'm not much of a cat man but I have worked on a few mags so all the help I can get would be great. Thanks |
