I recently bought a Ferguson TO35, SN TO35 159084, it came with a new 6 volt battery and the owners manual says the tractor is 12 volt. Wonder if there is a reason they didn't put a 12 volt battery in it?
thanks in advance

My 801 series tractor is 12V on the diesel model. 6V on the gas version.

If I remember correctly 35s early were 6Volt and later 12 volt. Maybe you have a later book and an earlier tractor.

check the voltage regulator and light bulbs
they will say 6 volt or 12 volt.

i have a 1957 to-35 and it has the 12 volt system
but i understand the 1955 models may have the 6 volt system, you just have to check.

most of the time the old tractors will start better with the 12 volt system.

The TO 35 started out at 6 volt at s/n 161250 they changed them over to 12 volt. I am guessing you do not have the "original 1955" owners manual. I am sure the 56 and later manuals would show 12 volt.

I just checked my 55 owners manual and it shows 6 volt. So the Owners Manual you have must be a 56 or newer.

It's probably a 6V system.. I know my 1955 TO-35 (S/N 141741) is a 6V Positive Ground.

And I don't know why anyone would switch it to 12V, as it fires right up year round.
