I have an exhaust delima. the manifold outlet outer diameter to stack is 4 inches. the chrome stack i want to install is 3 inches outer diameter. are there heavy duty enough reducers to make the connection that i want ? thanks

Yes, Donaldson makes exhaust reducers. That said, a reduction from 4 to 3 inches is a big step backwards in the amount of cfm that can flow through the smaller pipe vs the larger pipe. Without knowing particulars it's impossible to say with 100% certainty, but in most cases a reduction like that will probably put too much backpressure on the exhaust system and cause at best a loss of power in the engine. If it's a turboed engine then it's for sure going to cause problems. Your best bet would be to spend the money to get the right size stack because not doing so could cost you alot more later on in problems with the engine like burnt valves, etc, etc.

the stack that i want to put on is the same size as the exhaust as far as the inner diameter. the present pipe has the expanded end to fit the outer diameter, whereas the stack i want to put on is straight and not flanged out. i guess what i really need is a wrap type banding that will secure the stack and eleminate exhaust leaks. it is going on an allis chalmers hd4 dozer. thanks

Ok, sounds like you shouldn't have any problems then. That said Donaldson offers ID-OD, and OD-ID reducers, expanders, or whatever you want to call them depending on what your doing with them. Wether they offer the exact size your needing I can't say as it's been awhile since I've been in one of their catalogs. Still, if they have something that will work size wise, and you used the band clamps to hold it all together, then you should be fine.

Here's a link to Donaldson's site, right where you need to be to open up the online catalog. One of the blue hyper links says it's for reducers. Good luck.
