I am looking to get some more air flow into my 88 Diesel and I have heard some guys talk about putting 4-digit series heads on those motors instead of opening up the stock heads. I know there is very little room open the stock one and I am not looking for major motor modifications. Just wondering if it is a bolt off and bolt on change or if there is more to it. And also which heads would fit over. My dad has an 880 gas with a 4-digit head on and that is why I thought maybe the diesels would match too.

You did not say if your 88 is a Fleetline or a super model. Early Super 88 tractors had larger exhaust valves as well as intake valves. Then Oliver had a program where they would exchange your Super 88 head for one that had regular 88 exhaust valves installed which are smaller. Now if you can find one that was not changed then part of the problem has been solved. More questions? Send me a phone number and we can talk about it.

The tractor is a fleetline. I would like to go bigger than a super if possible.

i ported out a super 88 head and put bigger in. valves in one i pulled .along with 1650 diesel manifold with adapter plates , also put high ratio rocker arms on it it helped it ,for the money a310 our 320 is the way to go ,if you work your head over you will spend close to 500 -1000 depends on what you can do yourself ,and maybe only get 5 more horse

I have a super 88 and would like to know if the 310 would be better to install than having the 88 head worked over. would like more hp, also will the 310 head work without alot of mods.
I would like to talk over the phone with info.
