Howdy,
the starter on my brother in law model 200 diesel shorted out and burned/melted a good portion of the wiring harness. I have not been able to find a replacement harness for the tractor. Does anyone know where I can get a new wiring harness? or will this need to be a build my own harness?
I have the service manual that has the wiring diagram, but I am unsure of what gauge wire to use for the different legs.
Thanks
Jeff |

Let me guess. Did that tractor still have the cursed Lucas starter it came with?
They were trouble right from day one.
There is a place here in western NY- wiringharnesses.com- that specializes in what you need.
I spent a small fortune last winter for a JD OEM harness. I wish I had known about this place. |

As Doug says- they're a pretty basic system. If you decide to do-it-yourself, I just remembered something I have done in a similar dilemma. I have a couple of old, simple wire strippers/screw cutters. They have a separate slot for each wire size. I have used them to figure out the size of wires.
I have more recently got one of the one-size-fits-all-grab-cut-and-strip all in one motion type tools.
Maybe the old ones still have their place. |
