|
|
I bought an Allis "B" last week. Have operators manual and service manual ordered. Used it today for about an hour to mow grass. I noticed considerable "play" in the steering. Then it became almost impossible to turn the steering wheel. Is there an adjustment in the sterring box that needs attention? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks |

Sounds like internal problems in your steering gear. Probably gonna have to take it apart to see what it is. |

First you have to find out if the problem is in the gear box near the tool box or in the gears above the front wheels. There is an adjustment in the gearbox by the tool box, try turning the screw in or out and see if that helps. If possible jack up the front end when making the adjustment. |

Check the bushing inside the steering shaft tube (near the steering wheel). I put an aftermarket bushing in my B. After it had set around for a while not being used, the bushing contracted around the shaft making it nearly impossible to steer. |

It's a B no gear box above front wheels. |
