I have a Homelite 330 and Mcculloch 160 chainsaw that appear to have outlived their replacement parts support. I've had this problem in the past with a Husqvarna. So my question is, does any chainsaw manufacturer have a history of good parts support or are we in a totally disposable society?

Took my Stihl 031AV, purchased in 1972, in for repairs recently, and local Stihl guy had the parts on the shelf. Its still my go-to saw when the modern junk won't start. It always starts, and it never seems to get any lighter.

Those are the two brands I was looking at. I have heard nothing but good about Stihl and I own an Echo weed whacker that I really like. Thanks Guys,

Stihl and Husky both have multiple quality levels. Stihl has
homeowner grade, mid grade and professional saws. Depending
how heavily you use your saws you can get ones that will last
longer or be cheaper. I have had a Stihl MS 440 (which is a pro
grade saw) since 2004 and used it to cut about 23 standard cords
of wood a year and all of the trees for our little sawmill.

Go over to www,arboristsite.com and ask in the chainsaw section. Pretty good chance you can find the parts you need. You'll also want to check Ebay. On the Mac, do you mean a 1-60 which was a great big monster saw from the late 50's or a 160, a little dinky partly plastic saw from the early 80's-mid 90's? Make sure you specify when you go looking. IIRC the 160 had a long run, there should be lots of parts saws out there.
I will have to differ a bit on the idea that Stihl has parts for everything. That's just not so. What there are is lots and lots of NOS parts and used parts out there. If you hunt around you'll find that's true for most major brands. I've never not been able to get parts for any Husky or Jred, so far at least. It might take some looking, but they are out there.

I have a Skill/Partner that needs a new crankcase gasket. Dealer says no parts available. Is a great little saw, and I"d like to keep it going.

The Mac is indeed from about 1987 and is a mostly plastic saw. I have had good luck with it and will still keep it for light duty stuff. It just won't run on todays gas while hot so after about 15 minutes the gas is boiling in the tank. The homelite took me a little while to find just a recoil spring so I'm kinda leery of putting much more money into it. Thanks for the website. Mike

Check the link I gave above. Failing all else, gaskets can be made rather easily.
If the gas is actually boiling in the tank I think you have something else going on beside the gas quality. The fins on the jug may be blocked, the fan clocked with sawdust or mud dauber nests, something like that. Overly lean tuning can cause them to run hot. Is the fuel actually boiling or is it just acting like thats happening?
