On my 1950/8N/6V/Side mount after a minute or so I am getting no gas after my filter (and no it is not plugged) and only a fast drip prior to the filter (and yes I have plenty of gas). The tractor will not fire. Plenty of spark at plugs. Should I be getting more gas than that? Suggestions?

You DO know that there is three filters on the fuel line for the "N" series tractor.........RIGHT?????

One of these filters, OR the fuel line is PLUGGED up somewhere!!!!
Don't know which filter you checked, but if only ONE.....ya gots two more, AND the fuel line itself, to check!!!

I knew of the carb elbow filter (which is after the
in-line filter I pulled). I was going to pull the
fuel tank filter and the fuel bowl filter next, but
I did not want to if the amount of gas flow I was
getting was deemed enough by people who are more of
an expert than I am.

What do you mean by "filter," e.g., inline or sediment bulb?

Debris in the tank plugging the stand pipe and/or reserve screen?

Fuel at the carb should flow in a steady stream.

Remove the inline filter and discard.

Remove the sediment bulb from the tank and inspect for debris plugging the stand pipe and reserve screen/opening. Be certain to remove all debris from the tank or you will be repeating this procedure soon.

#1 throw the in-line filter as far from the tractor as you can. Then check fuel flow where it was. If it is not good there check the screen in the sediment bowl and check flow there. If not a good flow at the sediment bowl and you have a good bit of gas in the tank put the sediment blow back on remove the gas cap and carefully blow the line out with compressed air. That should clean the screen in the tank so you can run the tractor. Run it till you run out of gas then pull the sediment bowl assembly out of the tank and clean it.
By the way most in line fuel filters are made to work with 7psi of fuel pressure or more and a gravity system is lucky if it has 1/2 a psi

Gary.....just like to add....the gas tank vent may be clogged up by "dirt dabbers".Remove the gas tank cap and see if flow increases to a full 1/4 stream.If flow increases....drill 1/16 hole in center of removed gas cap to provide new vent and reinstall on the gas tank.

My jube had exact same problem; stand pipe above sediment bowl very gummed up with residue from the tank liner. Had to disassemble and clean x3 before I caught on and changed out the tank.

the ugly part is the tank wont drain through the bowl wiht the standpipe and backup plugged, but when you take the sediment bowl out you get an uncontrolled flood. So you have to siphon the gas out of the tank to somewhere else, filter it, etc, and then address the bowl.

Have to tell one on myself... Hadn't run the 9n much other than just starting it and running in for several minutes. Had to go get the mail and newspaper so fired it up and took off down the drive. No issues, breezed down the drive in 3rd, stopped at the road, hopped off and gathered the mail (wife had stopped on her way out and snagged the paper). Just walked back to the tractor and it quit. Tried to start it and would only run for a few seconds with the choke pulled all the way out. Did this several times with no luck. Many potential problems were going thru my head... ignition, carb, clogged fuel line. Then it occurred to me to check the gas. Sure enough, no fuel in the bowl and little on the end of the wrench I stuck down in there. Long walk back to the garage to get some gas and back, put it in and it fired right up.

Sometimes it's the simplest things!

The passages in the sediment bowl casting are quite small and any floating trash in tank can enter those, un-screened. (The 'reserve' screen is missing in old unit picture, but as far as floating trash, it can enter even with the screen since it has open top.)I have found enough accumulation of insect parts, seeds, grass, etc. to stop flow in these small passages.
