bought this several years ago. Bad swinging sickle drive that i knew of by looking. 9 bearings, 4 links, 4 bushings, 2 swing plates, installed. Then i went to sickle bar/guars themselves, didn't look pretty, replaced all knifes, upper and lower guards, adjusted to .040" clearance that was done. Reel, all tine tubes had bends, bat boards all beat to crap. straighten tube, all new tines, mount bushings for tube, and new bats. rell was slightly rubbing on cam for tubes, adjusted reel. Brought tractor home, hooked up crossed fingers and test ran. sickle works perfect, reel is smooth and noise free, main gear box no noises, and rolller chain drive box also good. Unsure as to how much lubes in chain gearbox, no sight glass and believe its designed to weep out of lower bearing for lower roller drive. Lube it calls for is rated at EP-0. looked it up its not a liquid gear lube, but a pudding type texture lube. Problem is finding it in a quantity other than 3 oz tube or 5 gallon pail. anyone know where, besides Case? they have 3 oz tubes. want quart size containers. not sure what level is in mine, figure overfilling it a bit won't hurt. Lots of room in gear box.
took back up to farm property did a quik pass cutting up one field, cuts great on 12 inch grass hay.
