I acquired a MF 65 yesterday . Found the SN on vertical metal panel just forward of the steering box, under battery compartment. #701164. It's a diesel , not sure which one. Appears to be an early '64 model. I looked into getting a service and parts manual, I see there are many options. Does anyone have pointers as to which one??? It is equipped with MULTI-POWER, which I know nothing about but understand it is usually problematic. It's a restoration project. If anyone has source sites preferred for misc. parts, I would appreciate it??
Motor starts and runs smooth. Tranny works in all gears,a little noise in reverse. What do I need to look for?? Thanks

I don't know that Multi-power is really problematic. It is however something else to repair and maintain.I dealt with a few of them and don't think they were any more or less reliable than say IH's TA. Never really got involved with servicing a MF so I can't give you much advice about manuals or sources, a few of the neighbors had them, I drove them for them and at various times we were swapping equipment back and forth to get 'er done I used their Fergusons thought they were good tractors and would rather had a MF 65 than our Super M but the SM was a lot cheaper at that time.

Early North American 65 diesels used the Perkins A4-203 engine which was indirect injection. Multi-Power wasn't available in the early years. The later model diesels used the Perkins AD4-203 which is direct injection. Any 65 new enough to have M-P would have the direct injection engine.

I got a 1963 row crop LP.Has the noisy reverse(maybe we can get some info on that)I buy parts from an Old MF dealer in Brownfield Texas who has some parts,or can get from K C Mo warehouse, and from this website.I was never on one till now,but knew of many people who owned them.

Thanks kymf150 for the info. Have not gotten brave enough
yet to move the MP lever. I've ordered the cd manuals. Tractor
starts and runs smooth, however oil pressure pegs max. Has
the aftermarket spin on adaptor. Bearings are shot on water
pump, gen. Is iffy. I guess I will just tear it down and re-do all
the systems.
