was unloading and moving hay rounds int he pasture yesterday and when I was done heard the gas tank boiling / blowing out the vent cap.. thought that was odd as that 850 never does that. walked around tot eh manifold side to find the reminants of the heat shield laying onthe muffler... poor thing musta cracket and vibrated enough till it fell apart.. :)
gonna make a new one tomorrow outta some heavy grade roofing tin.
made one for my 950 mowing tractor when i got it and it works great.. bent it up like original except for the dimples int he center, using the one off another 00 as a template.
speaking of template.. we need to get someone good with camearas and pdf files to meake a tempalte with measurements and post it up for people to make these. I've seen 3 posts inthe last month on here and 2 other boards mentioning people making their own heat shields..e tc..
wound be a great how-to for some folks that may only have 1 tractor. those of use 3-5-18-++ can just go unbolt one and trace it out and make one.. but for those with 1.. it's harder.. |
