c motor swap

can a d 12 or d14 motor be swaoed into a c or ca
if so what mods need to be made

the small B first came with a 116 inch motor. Later the C and B both had the 125 inch motor. Bigger motors with the same bell housing pattern were used on the D10-12-14-15. Motors of 138, 149 and 160 inch will all fit the bolt pattern. Flywheel and starters need to be matched up. Motors are slilghtly longer and hood may not fit as well.

The flywheel and starter does, as Steve stated, have to be from the C or CA. Those from a B will also work. The D 12 or D 14 has a front end mounting to the block in the same locations but they use 5/8" cap screws instead of 1/2" studs that the C uses. The front of the block on the CA is also taped with 5/8" threads using stepped down studs to 1/2" which both the C and CA front casting is drilled for. Finding a set of four CA studs will make the fit easy. You can drill out the C front to the 5/8" holes and use grade 5 or 8 cap screws if you care to. In using the 5/8" cap screws will mean you will have to grind out or machine away the casting to get a wrench on the heads. No big changes to make.

dick i thought i saw on here that u did a 4' stroke in b-c-ca motor did u do a welded crank or offset

Both the same. To stay standard you weld, or the crankshaft grinder welds, on the out bound side of the rod journals and grind the journals to standard which is called off set grinding. If you off set grind without the weld you can not use standard bearings which I wanted to use.
