Just got in from raking my last cutting of hay this year (third cut) with the 8N and Ferguson 3-pt. rake. If you remember earlier posts from this season, I had reseeded the field in the spring, and have really battled bad weed infestations all year. I had the field sprayed to kill off the monocots (foxtail, mostly) after the second cut, but there's still some out there - I think the 5" of rain we got in the past 3-4 weeks germinated some dormant seed.

At any rate, there was a good amount of alfalfa in the mix this time, so it should have much better feed value than the second cutting, so it's going in the barn for our animals.

I sold one rack of the poor second cut already (cow feed to be ground up with gluten), and will try to sell the rest before the end of the year - as scarce as hay is around here this year, I should still get a buck or two a bale for it.

At any rate, it was a nice evening, and I enjoyed a beautiful sunset as I was finishing up.

Sounds like you got a pretty good cut.

Only got two down here. Second cut was a weed field with a little clover mixed in just enough to keep us in the seat.

2 dry months, with a solid 3 weeks of rain...
