Tonight I finally started to diagnose why the tach has never worked on our 730 case since we've had it.

It appears there is no cable in the housing. I can only assume it broke and the previous owner just put the housing back on.

My question is where can I find one?

Do they still sell them new, or am I stuck finding a used one?

Thanks

Check with Case dealer if you have one close, got one for my 1030 and 300 from them. The worst they will tell you is no longer available which is getting common with the older stuff, or maybe try Elmers repair in Centralia, KS. 785-857-3248. Scott

I had that problem with my 830. John Saeli got me a
new cable. Its a little longer, but works great. It
came in a CaseIH bag, but I think it is a cable for
a 706??? gas tractor. He is a great guy, and will
help you. 1-315-585-9826. Hope this helps. Rob

Very interesting info. Besides having the Hyd problem, already discussed, the cable for my tach (Case 430) is broken off and I can't find the other half. On the 430 where does the tach hook to, Ive looked to no avail. Thanks guys. Oh yea this is a new tractor for me and I am unfamiliar with its terminologies.

My 700 had trouble rounding off the drive end of the cable. I cut the new cable just a little longer then brazed the end of the cable and hammered it square so it had a snug fit. Has worked perfect ever since.
