Any Onan dealer or try a Cummins Power outlet (Onan is part of Cummins, they bought it for the generator business), Toro commercial/turf dealer, A RV dealer that does their own generator work or a John Deere Lawn & Garden dealer. If you do the google thing or go to one of the sites and get the part number there are several sets on Flea-bay but the ones with the best prices are ID'd by part number only. Onan parts are pricey why do you need head gaskets? To set valves should be able to get by with less and I think they sell them ala-cart. Stens might make them, in that case you could probably afford to do the work. IDK how the 24 HP engines are but the 22 have valve seat problems you might be looking at having valve seats installed or re-powering with another engine (Honda,Kohler or B&S) |

The Rest of The Story. Info from trustworthy long time Oman person. Your first sentence is partly correct.
Back in the early 80s GM came out with the diesel 350 (6.2) engine. Too new to know that it would have some issues with reliability.
Onan Introduced the small inline 6 cyl (around 6 liter) diesel at about the same time.
Ford was looking for a small diesel to compete with GM. Was negotiating with Onan.
Cummins also negotiating with Onan for the same engine. Beat Ford to the punch, bought the whole Onan company. Added small engine to their line, sold engines to various equipment builders, including Chrysler for use in Dodge small trucks.
Ford was left in the lurch, went to IH to buy engines for their small trucks/vans.
As an afterthought, Cummins wasn't looking for it, but inherited the generator/power unit line.
That's what a reliable source from Onan told me.
