I would like to draw on the expertise of this forum. What have you folks done for replacing the LA front seal? Mine is intact but I"m afraid after sitting for so many years it"ll leak. I"ve talked with one friend who used a regular modern seal. I haven"t talked with Case yet to see if the seal is still available. |

The seal is felt, & designed to be tightened up to compensate for wear. If it didn't leak before, it will probably be OK now. A dealer will look @ you funny, but we stock the felts. |

Thanks for the info. My first experience with that seal. Before you guys responded I called the local dealer and got one of the young partsmen and gave him the number out of the '58 parts book. Nice, willing to learn fellow but when I said '49 LA Case he asked, "Is that a Farmall?" |
