|
|
Forgive my lack of knowledge on this tractor; I'm an Oliver and Cockshutt man. With that being said, I've got a John Deere B, serial number 75106. (1939, correct?) This tractor was my dad's tractor and it's been parked in the back corner of a shed for 30+ years. 4 forward speeds and a (I believe) Wico mag. It ran when it was parked, but now the engine is tight and I've got my magic elixir in the cylinders soaking to get them loosened up. The engine will be completely gone over this winter. Anyway, over the years, the carburetor has magically walked off. When I go to looking for the correct one, is there a certain make or model that I need to look for? As a kid, I remember that the choke lever has no rod attached to it, but that's about all I can remember. Post some info please. Thank you. |

I believe you need a DLTX-34 Carburetor. No choke levers were on all of the handstart models. |

All JD B's from serial number B1000 thru B95999 take a M/S DLTX-10. It can be fitted with a choke lever for hand choke; a lever for use with a cable; or a lever for use with a rod.

Marvel Schebler DLTX-10 carburetors were used on the model B's up to serial number 96000. From there to 200999 the DLTX-34 was used. I'm pretty sure 75106 would be a 1939 model. |

While having the correct number carb. would be nice, don't pass up a good deal on any of them as long as it is for a model B. If you plan on ever running all-fuel stick with on of those models but if gas only or a compression increase is in the works for the rebuild then a gas carb. should be fine as long as it has the smaller throat size of the model B's
A larger throat A carb. will run but really tend to foul out spark plugs. |
